CAPABILITIES
What Sinkaos does, area by area.
The full list, in plain terms, from the first plan to the last lesson learned. Looking for one specific thing? Jump to its area.
01
Operations and access
How work and people are organised.
Operations as workspaces
One workspace per event, response or site, holding its members, map, records, chats, sources and history.
Operation lifecycle
Active, suspended, archived and closed, each with its own rules for location sharing, retention, exports and guests.
Templates and cloning
Start from a template or a previous operation with its roles, layers, forms and watches, without copying old messages.
Area of interest and health
Define the operation area and see its health at a glance: connectivity, stale sources, open critical alerts, sync backlog.
Organisations and teams
Several organisations per account, nested teams, and policies that pass down the hierarchy.
Custom roles
Roles built from individual permissions and scoped to an organisation, team, operation or object.
Guests and partners
Time-limited, scope-limited access for people from other organisations. It ends on its own.
Handling labels
Mark operations, objects, files and exports with labels that restrict sharing, export and notification previews.
Several servers in one app
Keep separate profiles for different Sinkaos servers, each with its own sign-in and data, clearly labelled.
Strict separation between customers
Each customer’s data, identities, keys and settings are isolated from every other customer’s.
02
Sign-in, devices and privacy
Who can get in, on which device, and what happens to the data.
Passwords, passkeys and MFA
Email or username with a password, passkeys, and authenticator-app codes. No phone number needed.
Single sign-on
Sign in with your organisation’s identity provider, with accounts created and removed automatically.
A key pair per device
Every phone and browser has its own cryptographic identity. You can see all your devices and whether they are verified.
Verifying and revoking devices
Verify a device by QR or safety code. Revoke a lost one and it receives nothing new.
Managed devices
Push server and organisation settings through your device management, and require a minimum app version.
Account recovery without a back door
Recover through a trusted device or an encrypted recovery package. The service operator never gains access to your old messages.
Visible compliance access
If your organisation needs a compliance participant in encrypted rooms, it appears as a visible member. There is no hidden key escrow.
App lock
Biometric or PIN lock on mobile, with increasing delays after failed attempts.
Local purge
Wipe Sinkaos data from a device on the spot, or request a remote wipe and see whether the device has confirmed it.
Duress option
Optional alternate unlock or silent alert, if your organisation chooses to set it up.
Retention and deletion
Retention per type of data, account and data deletion, and legal holds, with honest wording about what deletion means.
Audit trail
Sign-ins, devices, roles, policies, integrations, exports and admin actions are recorded in a tamper-evident log.
Support for regulated organisations
Data export, deletion, retention settings, a subprocessor list and security documentation to support GDPR and NIS2 work.
03
Messaging and calls
Talking inside the operation.
Direct and group chats
One-to-one and large group conversations, end-to-end encrypted, tied to the operation.
Replies, reactions, edits
Reply and quote, reactions, editing, deletion, pinning and bookmarks.
Mentions and announcements
Mention a person or a whole role. Send operation-wide announcements if your role allows it.
Disappearing messages
Messages and attachments that expire, with clear wording about what can and can’t be removed from other devices.
Read receipts you can turn off
Delivery and read state, which an operation can switch off.
Places, incidents and tasks in chat
Share a location, route, incident or task into a chat. It stays the same object, not a copy.
Turn a message into work
Make an observation, incident or task from a message, with a link back to where it came from.
Encrypted files and media
Photos, video, audio and documents, encrypted on the device, with resumable uploads for large files.
Photo metadata control
Location and heading in photo metadata are stripped or kept according to your policy.
Low-bandwidth mode
Holds back photos and video so text and alerts get through on poor links.
Voice and video calls
Encrypted one-to-one and group calls.
Notifications
Push, email and in-app notifications, per operation and severity, with quiet hours. Previews hide content where policy requires it.
Status
Available, en route, on scene, off duty, kept separate from online presence, optionally with an expiry.
04
Maps and places
The shared picture, outdoors and in.
Online and offline maps
Vector and raster maps that work offline, including your own tile servers.
Basemap catalogue
Publish a set of named basemaps for your organisation and switch between them quickly.
Coordinate systems
WGS 84, UTM, MGRS, S-JTSK/Křovák and others, shown in the format each person prefers.
Search places and coordinates
Find a place or paste a coordinate, online or with an offline geocoder.
Drawing and measuring
Points, lines, areas, circles, corridors and freehand notes. Distance, area, bearing and angle.
Layers
Order, opacity, scale range, permissions, groups, edit locks and your own saved visibility.
Symbols
A civilian and public-safety symbol set, with optional standard tactical symbols for organisations that need them.
Persistent atlas
A long-lived map of your organisation’s world, independent of any one operation: sites, plans, sensors, cameras, routes.
Atlas to operation and back
Copy an area of the atlas into an operation. Propose what the operation learned back into the atlas, with review.
Sites and buildings
Bases, buildings and rooms as places you can attach equipment, sensors, cameras and routes to.
Floor plans from PDFs and images
Import floor plans and site drawings, keep the original, and place them on the map with control points.
Floors and levels
Buildings with ordered levels, from basements up, including unusual numbering.
Rooms, doors and stairs
Rooms, corridors, entrances, stairs and lifts as real objects, not just lines on a picture.
From street to room
Zoom from the area map into a building and down to a floor without losing your bearings.
Indoor positions
Positions inside buildings from check-ins, QR or NFC tags, beacons or your own systems, with floor and confidence.
Plan versions over time
Floor plans and site data keep their history, so a replay shows the building as it was on the day.
Offline site packages
Take an area of the atlas or a building, with its floors, into the field without a connection.
06
Incidents, tasks and records
Structured records instead of chat scrollback.
Typed operational objects
Every incident, task, place, person, vehicle or sensor has a stable identity, history and links to related objects.
Your own object types
Add types your organisation uses, alongside the built-in ones.
Observations
Fast field reports with a photo, position, source and confidence, marked as verified or disputed.
Incidents
Created by hand or from a message, report, alert or sensor, with severity, owner, workflow and evidence.
Tasks
Assigned, prioritised and placed on the map, with checklists, sub-tasks and acknowledgement.
Forms
Your own forms with conditional fields, validation, calculations, signatures and photos.
Two clocks for everything
When something happened and when it became known are kept apart.
History and replay
See the picture at any moment, or play the operation back at any speed with bookmarks.
Honest gaps
Replay shows where data is missing and which movement is interpolated rather than measured.
07
Live context and monitoring
Outside information and automatic watching.
Context sources
Weather, official warnings, road closures, transit disruption, seismic events, fires, water levels, aviation notices, aircraft and ship positions, satellite catalogues, public webcams, news, GIS services and your own feeds.
Enrich
Ask for everything relevant near a point, area, route or incident, grouped by source, and keep what matters.
Watches and geofences
Rules on areas, times, objects and sensor values: enter, exit, dwell, cross a threshold.
Alerts
Severity, owner, acknowledgement and escalation, with persistent display for critical ones.
Correlation
Related events grouped by time, place and source, without losing the original evidence.
Cameras on the map
Fixed, PTZ, mobile, body-worn, drone and public cameras with position and field of view.
Live video and snapshots
Open a stream from the map, control PTZ cameras if permitted, and check camera health.
Which camera sees this?
Suggest the cameras that cover an incident, area, room or stretch of route.
Sensors
Gauges, counters, environmental and industrial sensors with units, history and freshness.
Sensor connections
MQTT, HTTP and streaming connections, with buffering when the link drops.
Sensor-driven alerts
Thresholds and derived conditions that raise alerts or change plan decisions.
08
Photos and imagery
Pictures that know where they were taken and what they show.
Capture and upload
Take photos in the app or upload existing ones, linked to an operation, place or asset.
Metadata read automatically
Position, time, heading and camera details read from the file and from the phone’s sensors.
Where each value came from
Every position or heading says whether it came from the file, the phone, a person or a calculation.
Pose and calibration
Correct where a photo was taken and which way it faced, and align it to the ground, a wall or a floor.
Photos on the map
Markers with a viewing direction, field-of-view cone or footprint, or the image laid onto the map.
Side-by-side browsing
Move between the photo and the map, filtered by time, source and confidence.
Coverage queries
Which photos or cameras may show this point, room or route, and when.
Capture assistance
While taking a photo, the app records position, heading and floor, and works offline.
Image privacy
Control who sees the image, its exact location and its metadata, and strip metadata on export.
09
Mission planning
Planning ahead, with alternatives.
Plans as data
Phases, tasks, people, vehicles, routes and timings in a versioned plan, not a document.
Draft, review, approve
Plan revisions with full history. Any earlier version can be reopened exactly.
Plan editor
Edit timings, people, routes, milestones and dependencies together, with checks as you go.
Relative timing
Plan in offsets from start time, so a plan can be rehearsed before the real date.
Dry run
Play the plan forward to see where everyone should be and when.
Plan checks
Missing fields, timing clashes and resource conflicts flagged before you commit.
Ghost overlay
During the operation, the plan shows as a faint layer under what is actually happening.
Plan versus actual
Differences in position, timing and task status are recorded. A deviation is not automatically a failure.
Changing the plan mid-operation
Amend the plan during the operation. Each change is a new version; earlier ones stay as they were.
Objectives and end states
What the mission must achieve, kept separate from how.
Plan A, B and C
Complete alternative plans sharing the same objectives.
Alternative segments
Swap one part of a plan for another and rejoin the main plan afterwards.
Decision points
Conditions such as road state, weather, sensor values or staffing that decide which alternative applies.
Feasibility
Check that each alternative has the people, qualifications, vehicles, equipment and time it needs.
What-if rehearsal
Block a road, remove a vehicle or delay a team and see which alternatives still work.
Switching plans live
Warnings when the active plan degrades, and recorded switches to another alternative.
Suggestions with reasons
Ranked alternatives with the reasoning, trade-offs and unknowns shown. Advisory only.
Offline decisions
Alternatives and decision rules travel offline; decisions made in the field sync and reconcile later.
Approval and audit
Separate rights to view, edit, approve and activate plans, two-person approval, and a full record of every switch.
10
People and staffing
Getting the right people to the right place.
Workforce system connections
Connect to the volunteer and staff management system you already use.
Profiles you need, nothing more
Only staffing-relevant details are imported. Bank details and home addresses stay out.
Qualifications and capabilities
Training, badges, roles, languages and driving licences in one capability model.
Shifts and positions
Import activities and positions and create the matching operation and roles.
Availability
Existing commitments, time clashes and travel time are taken into account.
Suggested rosters
A proposed roster for every role, ranked on qualifications, experience, fairness and distance.
Explained choices
Why each person was suggested or left out, with hard rules and preferences kept apart.
People approve it
Lock, override and keep reserves. Nothing is published without a person approving it.
Responses and changes
Track who accepted, declined or cancelled, and react when a qualification expires.
Staffing alerts and reports
Gaps, shortages, expiring qualifications and sync problems, with a full history.
11
Training and exercises
Practice that feeds back into the real thing.
Training mode
Clearly marked exercises where simulated events can’t be mistaken for real ones or trigger real actions.
Scenarios from real plans
Turn a mission plan into a training scenario without changing the original.
Segments you can repeat
Split a scenario into parts and practise, simulate, brief or skip each one.
Reset and retry
Reset a segment and run it again. Every attempt is kept.
Different venue
Map the real site onto a training ground: staging area, entrance, stairs, room.
Sessions and role rotation
Run the same scenario on different dates with different people in different roles.
Instructor, evaluator and safety roles
Separate controls for running, assessing, observing and keeping people safe.
Pause and abort
Safety controls that keep a real emergency during an exercise clearly separate from the scenario.
Injects and branches
Inject events, stand in for missing people or systems, and branch the scenario.
Plan overlay in training
Compare trainees’ real movement with the planned route, including floors and rooms.
Evaluation
Assess against clear criteria, with evidence, not a single score.
Compare attempts
Timing, routes, tasks and interventions across runs.
Courses and programmes
First aid, radio, equipment handling and other courses as reusable templates and multi-session programmes.
Qualifications and renewals
Qualifications with evidence and expiry, and rules such as “renew first aid every 12 months”.
Scheduling and enrolment
Sessions with dates, venue, capacity, instructors, equipment, eligibility checks and waitlists.
Attendance and results
Who attended, who passed, and which qualifications were issued or renewed.
Compliance matrix
Who is current, due, overdue or missing a required qualification.
Calendar and reminders
Training in calendars, with reminders before things expire.

Search and view equipment by place, assignment, status and expiry.
Offline inventory
Check out and return in the field without a connection.
Vehicles
Each vehicle with its type, registration, call sign, owner and status.
Vehicle contents
Installed equipment and compartments that move with the vehicle.
Crew and passengers
Driver, crew and passengers, capacity, and who got in and out where.
Vehicle deployment
Assign vehicles to operations, training or ordinary logistics runs.
Fleet on the map
Parked, en route, staged or on scene, with route and ETA.
Vehicle sensors and cameras
GPS, cameras and sensors mounted on a vehicle move with it.
Vehicle readiness
Inspections, defects and repairs, so plans don’t assume a vehicle that isn’t available.
13
Debrief and learning
After the operation.
Structured debrief
A review with owner and access rules, linked to the operation it is about.
Built from the record
Messages, tasks, incidents, tracks, plan versions, alerts and media, not just memory.
Hot wash and review sessions
Quick notes straight after, and a facilitated session later.
Everyone’s account
Personal and team perspectives, kept separate from established facts.
Plan versus actual
Where timings, routes and resources differed from the plan, and why.
Findings and causes
Findings tied to evidence, with room for disagreement.
Lessons learned
Validated lessons with an owner, scope and status.
Improvement actions
Concrete actions with owners, deadlines and proof they were done.
Debrief reports
Reports for different audiences, with sources traceable.
Approval and redaction
Review, approve and redact before sharing.
Feeding back
Lessons can propose changes to plans, training, equipment, staffing, routes and maps, without rewriting history.
Learning across operations
Recurring findings and trends over many operations.
14
